Qualifications

I am a Senior level teacher and yoga therapist.  I am also an Ayurveda Lifestyle consultant (let me know if you are interested in having your tongue read etc during our session and I will incorporate this)!  I have been practicing yoga for 30 years and teaching for over 10 years. I have 2 Yoga Teacher Diplomas, Hatha yoga and Satyananda yoga (which is a traditional, classical, therapeutic and meditative style) plus I am a qualified Yoga Therapist.  My training journey began in 2003 when I moved to Australia, pregnant with my first child. I was expecting my second child on my second residential which was a bit harder as my little one had just started crawling!  It was an intensive course rich with residentials and if done back to back only 2.5 to 3 years.  However, it took me 10 years to complete due to the remaining residentials which I put on hold until my children were all of school age (completing bridging courses to keep it current) and then finally completing this course in Dec 2013 when I was able to compete the final residential with the help of my mother who came over from UK. In the meantime, I completed a 1 year Teaching Diploma thanks to my wonderful prenatal teacher, Anne Sharpen in Hatha yoga (Aranya order) 2008-2010.  I began teaching classes in 2010 from my home studio, a hall and on retreats as well as helping with teacher training at the Ashram which used to be close by.  I mostly teach private and group classes from home at the moment.  I also visit businesses and homes.

Mostly, my classes are small and taught in a private studio.  I have fully, up-to-date insurance, first aid/CPR, Yoga Australia membership and SYTA membership.  I am a qualified Yoga Therapist (recognised by AAYT & a member of AAYT).  I attend regular professional development courses, workshops, conferences to update and develop my skills.

This Government accredited Satyananda Teaching qualification is a Nationally recognised course.  I am affiliated with SYTA and Yoga Australia (SYTA3813).   Due to the high number of training hours (1440hrs) it is recognised by Yoga Australia as being a course over 500hrs.  Rebates with Medicare are currently no longer available for yoga if you are on a healthcare plan but we are hoping this will change soon particularly for therapeutic yoga.
