MOre about yoga
I feel deeply blessed to have had wonderful ancient tools of yoga shared with me. I am excited to be able to share them with others in the hope they too will experience the benefits. I have found the practices extremely effective not only for improving physical, emotional and mental well-being but also deepening awareness in everyday life and in discovering who I am and who I want to be. Instead of acquiring more heaviness and negative habits, I feel I am purifying and developing more positive habits and lightness and in doing so have more to give to the world. I feel the Universe gives me back in priceless ways. I feel more connected. It is not all about the postures - but it does help to remove these physical tensions before we can use that energy for the more subtle layers of mind and spirit.
Through having the tools at hand we are given the chance to change behavioural habits and mind-sets. I love this bit of yoga as this is where some really deep work can begin. Pranayama (breathing techniques) have a profound effect over the mind which is so often led by attachment to emotions, likes/dislikes, fears/expectation and so on. The busy, osscilating mind can be quietened and focused through these practices, allowing us to let go of mental tensions, instilling an increased sense of peace and clarity. I can't emphasize enough how much can be gained from these practices especially when we find ones that particularly work for us.
This class is aimed at total well-being, not just the physical being. In my classes, once the basic postures are learned, practitioners are encourages to synchronise the breath and movement which helps internalise and direct awareness during practice increasing the benefits. There is a rest after each posture to facilitate the practice and allow the pranic healing energies to flow/settle/redistribute after releasing blockages or areas of tension/tightness. It is non-competitive and although effort is applied, there should be no strain - it should be enjoyable :-) Each body is different just as each experience of life is unique. Yoga provides for this, helping us move towards our potential whilst accepting where we are at now.
